Of course, I was momentarily happy yesterday. It was the uncomplicated, unthinking happiness that sometimes descends upon us with little reason. It had to stop.
And today, I have to pay. And I am, dear reader.
I am in an insane, meaningless purgatory of endless discussions and correspondence and meetings and briefings and decision papers leading...nowhere. And I note that I have been dealing with slipshod cretins for so long that I seem to be becoming one. The great leveller of the public sector is incompetence: we all get there in the end.
It galls that people think I'm joking when I say that if I could exterminate 90% of my species, I would.
